Light Pollution: Keeping Our Nights Dark and Starry
One of the true joys of life at the lake is being able to look up and see the stars—no city glow, just a clear, natural night sky. To help preserve that magical experience, we ask all residents to be mindful of light pollution.
Even though we don’t have many streetlights in Whispering Hills, outdoor lighting from homes, garages, and motion lights can still impact the peaceful nighttime environment and wildlife in the area.
Here’s how you can help:
Aim lights downward and away from neighboring properties and the lake.
Use motion-activated lights only when necessary, and make sure the sensitivity and angle are adjusted so they don’t go off all night.
Choose warmer-toned bulbs instead of bright white or blue LED lights—they’re easier on the eyes and less disruptive to wildlife.
Turn off unnecessary outdoor lighting before heading to bed.
By being thoughtful about how and when we use lights outside, we can all help keep our nights calm, our skies clear, and our environment healthy.
Let’s keep Whispering Hills glowing with neighborly kindness—not artificial light!
