Intermunicipal Development Plan
Athabasca County and the Summer Villages of South Baptiste, Sunset Beach, West Baptiste and Whispering Hills have engaged Municipal Planning Services (MPS) to assist with the preparation of an Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP).
Throughout 2020 and 2021, the Summer Villages, the County, and MPS have been working to prepare a draft IDP, which is a high-level statutory land use plan for areas of mutual interest of two or more municipalities.
IDP PROJECT UPDATE
Thanks to all who attended the Online Open House in February and provided feedback on the draft Baptiste Lake IDP. The feedback received from residents and stakeholders was compiled and summarized into a What We Heard Report (WWHR), which also included proposed recommended changes based on the feedback received. Over the past few months, the IDP Committee (which consists of members of the Councils from the participating municipalities) and municipal administrations have reviewed the WWHR and provided direction for revisions to the draft IDP based on the findings and recommendations in the WWHR.
The What We Heard Report and revised draft IDP are now available for review.

As per the requirements in the Municipal Government Act, the Summer Village is holding a public hearing for the proposed Baptiste Lake Intermunicipal Development Plan. It will be a joint public hearing with the Summer Villages of West Baptiste, South Baptiste, Sunset Beach and Whispering Hills held online via Zoom on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at 7:00PM. Please review the notice for more information and instructions for attending the hearing.

Land Use Bylaw
A public hearing will be held on May 5, 2021 via zoom video conferencing for our Land Use Bylaw. There will not be a presentation. The proposed Land Use Bylaw is available here for your review. The public hearing will be a chance for anyone to make a statement/comment about the Land Use Bylaw prior to cancel passing it.
