Athabasca County, in cooperation with the Athabasca Regional Waste Management Services Commission (ARWMSC); is planning a FireSmart project again this May to help property owners with their FireSmart spring clean-up. The project will include the “Free Hazardous Fuel Disposal Weekend”; all waste transfer sites will waive the fees to ratepayers for disposal of waste brush and trees for a week around the long weekend in May. Then the summer village will be charged a portion of the total cost. This program has been a very cost effective way of encouraging FireSmart practices. This year it will take place from May 17th to May 27th.
Whispering Hills Transfer Site Summer Hours are Thursdays 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
